Electronic Supplementary Material:

The online version of this chapter (https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-55769-0_5) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.

This chapter draws on the stylistic considerations raised in Chap. 3 and the insights from eye-tracking literature and the empirical study of literature in Chap. 4 to consider the problem of translating style and the cognitive experience evoked by specific stylistic devices, focusing on the assumptive nature of stylistic analyses, notions of poetic effects and mind style, and the arresting effect of salient style on visual attention. The chapter closes with a problematisation of the notion of ‘cognitive equivalence’, which forms the basis of the stylistic analysis adopted in the case study later in this book.
